Are you looking for a financially rewarding outdoor experience this summer? Pickerri is connecting independent and enthusiastic berry-pickers to berry-picking buddies; ensuring the berries picked from the beautiful forests of Finland are sold at fair prices .

* Berry Picking can be challenging and it requires some resilence in hunting berries around the forests and dealing with humidity and wet weather.In the first two weeks of the season,mosquitoes and other flying insects can also be a problem ,but it can also be fun and financially rewarding!

Summary

• Independent Lingon-berry / Cow-berry Picker
• Location: Various locations across Western Finland. The sites are around Kalajoki.
• Duration: Summer Season (July - October). The season starts in the middle of July and ends about when the first snow falls in October.
• Estimated earnings: Price depends on how good the season is and the quality of picks. Historically, this could range from 1.3 - 2.5 euros per kg for cowberries. The forcasts from the Center for Natural Resources indicates this year will be a good harvest year.
• Daily Output: Depending on your skill ,energy,commitment,stamina and the type of berry, an average Picker usually do between 40-120kg of blueberries or cowberries per day.
• Vehicle: You need a car as a Team to move your picked berries back to the collection center.Pls refer FAQ document for detailed explaination.
• Daily Cost: Excluding your meals, you may spend between 20-30 euros per day for guest-house rent and transportation (guesthouse,car hire,car-trailer hire,gasoline).This is an approximate calculation and tend to change as per the scenario.

About Us: Pickerri connects independent berry pickers to the best berry locations and act as a berry buyer in Finland, every summer. We ensure your team is well-equipped with information and support, creating an enjoyable and productive working environment.

“ The Task:

Every summer, Finnish forests is full of berries (cloudberries in July, Blueberries in August and Cowberries in September) and everyone is independently allowed to pick and sell as many as they want. We help you find the best locations, compactible team members, suitable guest-houses and the fairest buyers.

• You harvest blueberries (bilberries), lingoberries(cowberries), cloudberries and mushrooms during the summer season in Finnish forests using a simple picker tool and buckets.
• You work in Teams of 3-5 people for as long as you can, and in accordance with the rest days specified in the law, using one vehicle with or without an attached Trailer.
• When you have enough berries or when you are tired, the Team pour the berries from the buckets in plastic crates marked with each member's names; and drive back to the cabins where your berries are weighed and the weights recorded against your names, individually.
• Work Time and Days: Since you are independent, you are free to determine how long you want to work per day and how many days you want to stay.

What You are Responsible for :

• Accomodation: You stay in rented guest-houses close to the berry field. You are responsible for your accomodation rent. But we negotiate and find the most comfortable cabins with all necessary amenities (electricity, kitchen, internet, laundry, and sports facilities) for you at the best prices. Cabins have single room spaces or spaces shared by 2-12 people.
• Meals: You are responsible for your meals. You may choose to bring or buy your own food, cook in the cabin kitchen, or arrange a cook amongst yourself. You can also order groceries and meals from the nearest shops.
• Work Clothes: Come prepared with your farm boots, suitable clothes covering your entire body, anti-mosquito face nets, waterbottles, and food pouch. You need a raincoats to avoid getting your clothes wet in the mornings and during rain showers.
• Laundry: You manage your own laundry and cleaning of your work clothes by booking a time at the laundry room using a free app.
• Tools and Equipments: Some Tools and equipment for berry picking, like the crates, are usually provided by the berry buyer; some others like Picker rakes and buckets you can buy or rent around town.
• Tranportation: You are responsible for your commute to and from the cabins at the beginning and end of the season and for your daily commute to and from work. This transportation cost and the cost of renting a Trailer daily can be shared by the Team members, using a calculator on the Pickerri application.

Estimated Costs:

• Daily guest-house rent (mostly cleaning inclusive): approximately €15 per day.
• Estimated cost of commuting to the berry location and back to the cabins: €7 - €10 daily when shared by the team of 3-5 people, depending on distance travelled and whether you rent a car and trailer.
• If you do not make your own food, budget €15-20 per meal for food purchase and food deliveries.This will be totally depending on your eating pattern and style.

Estimated Earnings:

• Depending on your skills,commitment and experience a Picker can get: 40kg to 100kg per day for Blueberries or Cowberries.
• Depending on market forces, you can sell cowberries at €1.3-€2.5 per kg. Pickers can view their earnings on the App daily.
• Depending on your effort and commitment in a good season, a Picker can earn between: €1000-€3000 per month, this season, after all expenses.
• Berry picking is non-taxable, so you keep all you earn.

Requirements:

• Physical fitness and Enthusiasm for outdoor work and nature.
• Ability to be independent and to brace yourself against the forest and mosquitos.
• Previous berry picking or agricultural experience is a plus but not required. We assist you find the best locations but soon, you learn to hunt and find the locations yourself.
